BOX 2: NIGHTSTAND

Box 2 is a continuation of experimentation with the material nature of plywood and its possibilities for form and space. However as a contrast to box 1, it seeks to expose only the veneer face of the plywood. Its sides read as directly adjacent faces without exposure of the interior. In this way box 2 is designed to highlight the juxtaposition of maple wood and knit fabric without revealing the physical connection between the two materials. In order to do this, each face of the box is connected at a 45 degree interior cut which is not visible unless the drawers are opened.
